Q: How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?
A: We used many cinematic conventions in this film. For camera work, we used techniques such as panning to help give a sense of the current surroundings.We used two closeups to kind of elude to an incoming action scene. Another camera shot we used was a wide shot to show the area in which this was all taking place to show more of the setting.
In editing, we used slow motion to emphasize the tackle scene and make it seem more severe. We also used short takes during the scenes leading up to the tackle as things were heating up so it would be more quickly paced similar to many high action scenes in movies. Another editing technique we used was an insert shot of the golf bag hitting the ground. This emphasized the loudness of the bag hitting the ground, giving the sense that the guard will notice.
In the mis-en-scene category, we made sure to use golf-esque attire such as a visor, polo, and khaki shorts to make the protagonist look like he was going to be golfing. We made the guard wear sunglasses and have a whistle to sort of fit the guard look.
We did not go out of our way to represent any specific social groups, this film is purely for entertainment of the viewer.
